To apply my knowledge of the natural environment to a career in the natural environment, in a context which will use my management skills and academic background. |
| WORK EXPERIENCE |
Research assistant, Department of Conservation, University of Carmarthen 2001-2003 (fixed contract). The project investigates the impact of EU funding on the rural economy of South Wales.
My responsibilities include: • managing a budget of £20,000 (75% of the total); • organising my own schedule and monitoring the progress of the project; • communicating with farmers via questionnaires, one to one interviews and focus groups; • analysing statistical data; • presenting project findings in a written report and oral presentations.
Conservation volunteer, 2000 - present. As a member of Student Conservation Groups International I have participated as a team member in conservation projects, including: • restoration of buildings on the Blasket Islands; • riverside clearance and path maintenance schemes; • reclaiming derelict urban land for recreation areas.
Tourist Board assistant, summers 1996 - 1998 • Advising tourists of attractions in the local area • Building relationships with hoteliers, tour operators and members of the Tourist Board Committee |
